Gary Tromer - Experienced Commercial Pilot and Aviation Technician

Based in Florida, Gary Tromer is an accomplished aviation professional whose career progressed from aircraft maintenance to command and airline flight duties, giving him experience across technical and operational settings. Gary Tromer's background spans corporate, charter, regional, and major airline environments, where he flew aircraft ranging from Beechcraft King Air turboprops to Airbus passenger jets.

From 1980 to 1982, he worked as an airframe and powerplant technician with Hangar One Inc. in Orlando, Florida. His responsibilities included servicing Beech aircraft, and he completed factory training for the Beechcraft Pressurized Baron. He then joined Florida Power & Light’s aviation department in Miami, where he served as a co-pilot and technician from 1982 to 1989.

While at Florida Power & Light, Mr. Tromer flew company personnel and maintained fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. He also worked weekend and holiday charter flights for Air Center of Miami, flying passengers and cargo throughout Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean.

Mr. Tromer became a captain with Piedmont Airlines in 1989, flying Dash 8 aircraft until 2014. He later served as a first officer with American Airlines, where he qualified on the Embraer 190 and Airbus A319, A320, A321, and A321neo. He earned a bachelor’s degree in aircraft engineering technology from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
